A long-term plan is being made for the production of organic manure to reduce dependence on chemical fertilizers. According to this, the intention of the Central Government is on the production of organic manure from Gaushalas and its commercial use on a large scale.
The Bhupesh Baghel government of Chhattisgarh has launched the Godhan Nyay Yojana (GoD) to buy cow dung from the farmers.Godhan Nyay Yojana) was introduced. This ambitious scheme of the state government has been very successful. The government buys cow dung from cattle rearing farmers and prepares vermi compost in Gothans. The central government is also now increasing its steps in this direction and through the Gothans organic manure (Organic Fertilizer) is working on the product promotion plan. Earlier, in the Lok Sabha, the Standing Committee on Agriculture Affairs, while appreciating the Godhan Nyay scheme of Chhattisgarh, suggested to the central government that a similar scheme of purchasing cattle dung from farmers should be started for the whole country. Due to this employment as well as organic farming (Organic Farming) will be encouraged. After this, now the central government is emphasizing on the production of organic fertilizers to reduce dependence on urea based fertilizers.

Purchase of cow dung at the rate of Rs 2 a kg
In addition, an infrastructure will be developed for the production, packaging, marketing and distribution of organic manure. For which the central government can work on the PPP model by connecting Gaushalas, Dairy Cooperative Societies and Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs). In Chhattisgarh, Godhan Nyay Yojana is being operated under the Suraji Gaon Yojana through village-built Gauthans.
Vermi compost tanks have been constructed in these Gauthans under Godhan Nyay Yojana, in which women of self-help groups are manufacturing organic manure. Cow dung is procured through Gauthan committees at the rate of Rs.2 a kg. On the other hand, vermi compost is made and sold at the rate of 10 rupees per kg. So far, Rs 250 crore has been paid to cow dung sellers, farmers, livestock farmers and collectors. At present 7841 self-help groups are running the activity of Gothan.
