Assembly elections are being held in 5 states of the country. The first phase of voting has been held, while voting is yet to be held in many phases. In Bengal, with 294 assembly seats, voting is to be completed in 8 stages. In the past, an opinion poll was issued by the media institutes and survey agencies, through which the possibility of victory and defeat in the election is raised. However, it is not certain whether opinion polls will be proved right or wrong!
However, these days some reports and claims about the election result are going viral. In this episode, an assessment report claiming the results of West Bengal and Tamil Nadu, also known as the Intelligence Bureau, is going viral. According to this report, the TMC government is seen to be formed in West Bengal, while the DMK government is seen in Tamil Nadu.
What is in the viral report called as Intelligence Bureau?
In the report going viral on social media, it is being claimed that a survey has been conducted on the ground level from 15 to 22 March. The survey included 30,800 people from West Bengal and 23,500 people from Tamil Nadu. It has been claimed that people from both rural and urban areas gave their opinion in it.
In the name of this survey, it is being claimed that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress Party is getting a majority in West Bengal. TMC can get 211 seats from 204. Its vote share is going to be around 44 to 48 percent. At the same time, BJP can get 82 to 91 seats with 35 to 39 percent vote share. The Left’s vote share can be 9 to 15 percent and it can get 2 to 4 seats.
Claim to form DMK government in Tamil Nadu!
In the survey report viral in the name of the IB, it is being claimed that the DMK ie Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam Party government is being formed in Tamil Nadu. It is getting 178 to 199 seats with 42 to 47 percent vote share. At the same time, AIADMK is getting 28 to 42 seats with 31 to 36 percent vote share.
What is the truth of these claims?
The Intelligence Bureau is India’s internal intelligence agency. This agency works under the Ministry of Home Affairs. This agency is responsible for the internal security of the country and other important functions. As far as the election survey or opinion poll etc. is concerned, the survey agency and media institutes get this work done. In such a situation, this claim is rejected at the primary level that the IB must have conducted such a survey. No such information is available on the website of the Ministry of Home Affairs, to prove that such a survey has been conducted from the IB.
PIB also denied these claims
These claims, which have gone viral in the name of the IB, have also been denied by the government. The Fact Check Team of the government agency Press Information Bureau has tweeted, refuting these claims. In the tweet, some reports in the name of Intelligence Bureau are going viral, claiming that the IB has conducted a survey on the ongoing assembly elections in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu. The PIB has clarified in the tweet that no such survey or assessment has been conducted by the IB. That is, the claims that are going viral are fake.
