The Tamil Nadu government has announced several restrictions in the state amid growing Corona cases. An official release stated that from 6 to 20 May, vegetable and food shops located in the commercial complex would have to be closed, while standalone shops could only be open till noon with 50 per cent of customers.
At the same time, the government-run TASMAC liquor shops have been allowed to open for four hours between 8 am and 12 noon till 20 May under the new COVID-19 ban imposed in Tamil Nadu. TASMAC issued a statement on Wednesday, stating, “All senior regional managers and district managers are instructed to inform shop personnel that all TASMAC liquor from May 6 to May 20 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Shops will remain open, although shops will remain closed on Sunday due to the complete lockout.
Ban imposed from 6 to 20 May
In fact, on Tuesday, the government announced more restrictions as part of its COVID-19 containment measures, despite the speed of the infected not decreasing. This includes a ban on running shops other than those selling essential items like vegetables and food items. As per the orders issued by the state government, all government and private offices can work with only 50 per cent employees, while the seating capacity in metro rail, private buses and taxis has been reduced by 50 per cent.

23,310 cases of corona occurred in a day
Tamil Nadu on Wednesday reported 23,310 new Covid-19 cases according to the state health bulletin. Till Wednesday, 1,28,311 active cases were registered in the state. 167 people died in the state on Wednesday.
