According to Dr. Shalini Chaudhary, agricultural scientist of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), if these trees grow in the fields, they start making the fields barren. Then the farmers have to work hard to remove them from the fields.
The farmers of Bundelkhand who have been battling natural calamities for many years (FarmersThe troubles are not taking the name of diminishing. Monsoon rains are decreasing year after year for the last several years (Monsoon RainDue to this, Madar (Akkua) trees have taken possession of the fallow fields. Not one, not two, not more than a dozen villages, only Madar trees are visible in the fields, which are making the land barren by destroying all the fertility of the land. In such a situation, farmers are facing trouble in removing these trees from the fields. At the same time, the fear of not having other crops in this land has also arisen.
In more than half a dozen villages of Sisolar police station area of Hamirpur district of Uttar Pradesh, Sisolar, Baksha, Bhaturi, Chhani, Bhulsi etc., in hundreds of acres of fields, are currently standing as a madar epidemic. Here, the farmers who had left their fields fallow due to lack of water, now thousands of Madar trees have grown in those fields. Once the fields of these villages used to produce wheat, gram and tur, but due to the decreasing rainfall year after year, the situation became so critical that the farmers stopped sowing their fields and today in hundreds of acres of farmland only and only Madar. Trees are visible. They have become enemies of the lives of animals as well as farms.
How is the Madar tree like?
By the way, the Madar tree can often be seen standing in the barren and rough ground. The tree, which is always with green leaves like betel, has white and purple flowers, but its fruits are green, which appear in summer. People consider its flower dear to Lord Shiva, but it comes under the category of poisonous trees. It continues to grow even without water. After growing in the form of a bush, it takes the form of a large tree and its height can exceed 10 feet. The milk coming out of this tree can go up to the eyesight. Along with humans, it can also have a fatal effect on animals.
How do Madar trees make fertile land barren?
According to Dr. Shalini Chaudhary, Agricultural Scientist of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kurara, Hamirpur, if Madar trees grow in the fields, they start making the fields barren. Then the farmers have to work hard to remove them from the fields, because the root of the Madar tree reaches several feet below the ground and arranges water for the tree. That’s why its roots are deep. Simultaneously, it feeds itself by drawing all the fertility of the soil (fossil carbon, nitrogen, potash) and makes the fields barren. The seeds of this tree can easily spread in the air for several meters, due to which it grows on its own in a number of hundreds simultaneously.
How do farmers save their fields?
Regarding the madar trees spreading like an epidemic in the fallow fields, agricultural scientist Dr. Shalini Chaudhary says that if farmers leave their fields empty, then such trees will grow which will eliminate the fertilizer capacity of the land. In such a situation, farmers must take care of their fields. Farmers sow or not sow anything in the fields, but they must destroy its weeds by ploughing. If Madar trees have grown in the fields, then cutting them down to 5 cm below the ground and plowing the fields deeply, put Metsulfuron methyl 12 grams per 100 liters of water or Imazapyr 200-250 grams per 100 liters of water on the Madar trees. Spray, due to which these trees will gradually die. If farmers want to increase the fertility of Madar trees, then after sowing dhaincha in it, fill it with water in 40 to 50 days and then mix it well in the soil.
