External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar (Foreign Minister S Jaishankar) said on Tuesday that Afghanistan (Afghanistan) For lasting peace in the U.S., the safe haven of terrorists should be ended immediately, as well as their supply chain should also be broken. During the UN Security Council debate on the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan, he stressed the need to adopt a zero-tolerance policy against all forms of terrorism, including cross-border terrorism. Jaishankar said during a discussion in the UN Security Council that India wants a permanent ceasefire in Afghanistan to ensure an immediate reduction in violence and to ensure the safety of civilians.

It is equally important to ensure that the territory of Afghanistan is not used by terrorist groups to threaten or attack any other country. Those who provide logistical and financial aid to terrorist organizations must be held accountable.” At the same time, referring to last week’s report of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on the situation in Afghanistan, Jaishankar said that the report is clear that violence in Afghanistan has not decreased as a result of intra-Afghan talks.

“Violence in Afghanistan has only increased”

Jaishankar said, “Violence in Afghanistan has only increased, especially after May 1, with attacks targeting religious and ethnic minorities, girl students, Afghan security forces, ulema, journalists, civil rights activists and youth in the country. It is therefore important that the international community, and in particular, this Council, press for a permanent ceasefire to ensure an immediate reduction in violence and the protection of civilian lives.”

He said that India continues to support all efforts being made to expedite talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban, including intra-Afghan talks. The External Affairs Minister said that if the peace process is to be successful, it is necessary to ensure that the negotiating parties engage in it in good spirit and find a way to find a military solution and are fully committed to reaching a political solution. Because it will help in finding a permanent and sustainable solution.

India’s support for the peace process

“I want to reiterate my support for an inclusive, Afghan-led, Afghan-owned and Afghan-controlled peace process,” he said. Jaishankar said that India stands with Afghanistan to ensure restoration of normalcy through a legitimate democratic process. India will continue to provide all possible assistance to the Government of Afghanistan and its people to realize their aspirations for a peaceful, democratic and prosperous future, a terror-free environment, so as to protect the rights and interests of all sections of Afghan society. and be promoted.”
