A woman farmer from Etawah took training in growing off-season vegetables by joining the National Livelihood Mission. Which he has proved to be very helpful for changing the fortune of his family.
Farming is considered one of the challenging professions. So far only men have been at the fore in dealing with the challenges of this profession. Meaning that in works like agriculture and horticulture, men have been influenced so far, but with the changing times, women are also writing new records of success in agriculture and horticulture. One such inscription is that of Mona Kushwaha, a resident of village Adda Navali, under the development block Basrehar in Etawah district of Uttar Pradesh. Who started the production of unseasonal vegetables along with his wife. As a result, this success of his wrote the script of changing the fate of his family. Women farmer Mona Kushwaha is a source of inspiration for herself and other women of the surrounding area today. At the same time, after this success of her, a large number of women are associated with her and she is now engaged in grooming the lives of other women.
Started cultivation of unseasonal vegetables in association with National Rural Livelihood Mission
Talking to TV 9 Digital, Mona Kushwaha, who wrote the story of changing the fortunes of the family from the cultivation of untimely vegetables, tells that she came to this house after getting married in 2013. Mona, a graduate, says that then her husband used to cultivate wheat and paddy on 4 bighas of land. Which was hardly earning 60 to 70 thousand rupees per year. Mona says that one day a team of officials came to our village for the implementation of the National Rural Livelihood Mission scheme. From whom she gathered information and she got involved with the National Rural Livelihood Mission and took training. Mona tells that after this, along with her husband, she started growing off-season vegetables like cucumber, watermelon, bitter gourd in their 4 bigha farm.
Now earning Rs 4 lakh annually
Giving information about her success journey, woman farmer Mona Kushwaha says that first we grew cucumber by mulching bed method. After which watermelon again started growing bitter gourd, radish crop. Mona says that now she is earning more than four lakh rupees annually by producing off-season vegetables.
Employed 50 women, 40 women joined self-help groups
Women farmer Mona Kushwaha says that by connecting with the National Livelihood Mission, she is providing employment to other women as well. Under which he has provided employment to 50 women so far. Similarly, he has formed a self-help group, to which 40 women are associated. Mona says that women belonging to self-help groups have participated in the district level exhibition and have also received district level awards thrice. She tells that she had associated a woman farmer with strawberry cultivation, who is making good profits today. On the other hand, Rural Livelihood Officer, Deputy Commissioner and Employment, Brajmohan Ambedkar says that under the National Rural Livelihood Mission, women of rural areas are being linked to self-help groups. According to Ambedkar, most of the women are associated with the off-season vegetable growing group under the mission.
