Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa along with his wife Shiranthi Rajapaksa reached Tirumala on Thursday afternoon. Here he was warmly welcomed by the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Narayana Swamy.
Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa visits Venkateswara Temple
Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa along with his wife is on Tirupati pilgrimage in India for 2 days. Today he offered prayers at Sri Venkateswara Swamy Vaari Temple situated on the seventh peak of Tirupati-Tirumala mountain. During this, the pundits of the temple also blessed the Rajapakse couple. Earlier in February, the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka had also come to visit Tirupati temple. At that time he also met the Prime Minister of India, Modi.
Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa in traditional attire offered prayers to Sri Venkateswara Swamy, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, early in the morning. The temple of Sri Venkateswara Swamy is located in Tirupati in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. This temple is situated on the seventh hill of Saptagiri which is also known as Venkatadri. Here the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapaksa made an offering in the ‘hundi’ (the gift box) in the temple.

Priests welcome Rajapaksa
At the same time, temple officials told a news agency that earlier, on reaching the ‘Mahadwaram’ of the temple, Rajapaksa was traditionally welcomed by Vedic priests along with top temple officials. After the puja, the temple’s high priests blessed the Rajapaksa couple at the Sri Ranganayaka Mandapam in the hill shrine amidst Vedic chanting.
Let us inform that Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa along with his wife Shiranthi Rajapaksa reached Tirumala on Thursday afternoon. Here he was warmly welcomed by the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Narayana Swamy. After this, Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa along with the family went to Tirumala temple under tight security.
Here he was received by Dharma Reddy, Additional Executive Officer of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams and Gopinath Jetty, Security Officer. After this Mahinda Rajapaksa stayed at Padmavati Guest House in Thirumalai. After darshan of Sri Venkateswara Swamy, today he will go to Ezhumalayana in Tirupati and after that he will have Darshan of Sri Venkateswara Swamy. After this, he can return to Colombo only today. It is worth mentioning that earlier Sri Lankan Prime Minister Rajapaksa had come to India on a five-day visit on 7 February this year. Even during his five-day tour, he had darshan at the Tirupati temple.
