For the campaign of Azamgarh and Rampur Lok Sabha by-elections in Uttar Pradesh, where the ruling BJP leaders were seen campaigning from village to village, street to street, Samajwadi Party’s biggest leader Akhilesh Yadav has been absent from the entire by-election.
Monday was the last day of campaigning for the Azamgarh and Rampur Lok Sabha by-elections in Uttar Pradesh. The leaders of the ruling BJP were campaigning from village to village, street to street, but Akhilesh Yadav, the biggest leader of the largest opposition party Samajwadi Party, remained absent from the entire by-election. Akhilesh Yadav neither went to Rampur nor Azamgarh. Actually Akhilesh Yadav’s confidence is behind not campaigning in Azamgarh. The reason for his confidence is the caste equation of this Lok Sabha seat. The by-election is being held in Azamgarh Lok Sabha seat. There are 5 assembly seats in this Lok Sabha constituency: Gopalpur, Sagdi, Mubarakpur, Azamgarh and Mehnagar. Azamgarh Lok Sabha seat is formed by combining these assemblies.
There are about 17 lakh voters in this Lok Sabha constituency, about 3 lakh 75 thousand Yadavs, 3 lakh upper caste voters, 2 lakh 50 thousand Muslims, about 2 lakh 50 thousand Dalits, the number of Rajbhar voters is also around 2 lakh. The voters of other backward castes are around 3 lakhs.
Akhilesh trusts Muslim (M) Yadav (Y) factor?
Yadav and Muslim are the biggest winning factors in this Lok Sabha seat. Akhilesh Yadav’s strength is this core vote bank. On the basis of this, Akhilesh Yadav has accepted that Azamgarh Lok Sabha belongs to him. If we consider the trend of the results of the last few Lok Sabha elections and the 2022 assembly elections, then it is not a difficult task for Akhilesh Yadav to win this seat. Samajwadi Party won all the 10 seats in Azamgarh district in the 2022 assembly elections. From 2014 till the resignation of Akhilesh Yadav, the Azamgarh Lok Sabha seat was with the Samajwadi Party.
Why didn’t Akhilesh Yadav go to Rampur to campaign?
To understand why Akhilesh Yadav did not go to Rampur, the politics of the Samajwadi Party will have to be understood from the era of Mulayam Singh Yadav. The specialty of Mulayam Singh Yadav was that he was accompanied by a leader of almost every caste class, Brahmin, Kshatriya, Kurmi, Muslim. It is said about Mulayam Singh that he is a leader from the ground. Used to meet any worker at any time, but with Akhilesh Yadav the matter is different. Akhilesh Yadav’s entire politics is on caste equations, especially Muslims and Yadavs. He is only moving towards becoming the leader of Yadavs.
Azam Khan Vs Akhilesh Yadav in Rampur?
Akhilesh Yadav did not go to Rampur because he has handed over the entire responsibility of the by-election to Azam Khan. Here the candidate is a socialist but the prestige is at stake of Azam Khan. If the election is won, Azam Khan’s leadership wins and if he loses, Azam Khan’s defeat. Akhilesh Yadav neither wants to take credit for it nor does he want to take the blame for the defeat. Even though the socialist candidate in Rampur is Aseem Raja, but the decision here will be of Azam Khan’s political future. If Samajwadi Party wins, Azam Khan will be number two in the party, and if he loses, his position may be that of Shivpal Yadav.
Will Akhilesh be uncomfortable if Azam’s height increases?
At this time there is no leader in Samajwadi Party who can question any decision of Akhilesh Yadav, or ask him why did you take this decision? Akhilesh Yadav wants to maintain this status. Azam Khan is the only leader in the Samajwadi Party who can challenge the decisions of Akhilesh Yadav in the party. This will be possible only when Azam Khan’s candidate wins the Rampur Lok Sabha by-election.
