Santan Saptami is an auspicious Hindu festival, dedicated to one’s Kuldevi or Kuldevata. On this day parents keep a fast for their children, while some people also keep a fast for their children. It is celebrated on Saptami Tithi, which is the seventh date of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month of Hindu lunar calendar.
This year this special day will be celebrated on 13 September 2021. For unknown, this child Saptami is also celebrated as Lalita Saptami, Aparajita Saptami and Muktabharan Saptami.

Santana Saptami 2021: Significance
Santan Saptami Vrat is celebrated for the long life and welfare of our own children. According to popular beliefs, it is also considered as the blessing of a male child. Santan Saptami Vrat is mainly observed by women but it is often observed by both mother and father for the happiness and success of the children.
Santana Saptami 2021 : Legend
It is believed that Lord Krishna narrated this to Yudhishthira, the eldest son of Pandu. He told that the importance of this fast was told by sage Lomesh to his parents Devaki and Vasudev. King Kansa had killed his seven sons due to which he was in deep sorrow. The sage advised him to observe the Santana Saptami fast to overcome his misery.
Santana Saptami 2021: Worship Rituals
After taking bath early, worship should be started by wearing clean clothes.
Clean the place of worship, spread red cloth on the wooden platform.
– Pray to Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati and Lord Vishnu.
– Install an idol or picture of Lord Shiva with the family.
Keep an urn filled with water on the mouth and cover the mango leaves. Put coconut on it.
Light a lamp and offer flowers, akshat, betel leaf, betel nut and naivedya.
Offer Lal Mouli (red sacred thread) to Lord Shiva. After worship, tie this thread on the wrist of the child.
Take a resolution, take a pledge to observe the child Saptami fast.
The offerings of Kheer-Puri and sweet pudding made of flour and jaggery are offered.
Seven Puyas tied on a banana leaf are kept at the place of worship.
– Read the story of the child Saptami fasting.
– The worship should be completed at most by noon.
After the Aarti, Bhog, the fast ends.
Seven puas are given to the brahmins and the fast is broken only by eating puas.
