Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched Parliament TV today i.e. on Wednesday evening. Parliament TV has been launched during a program organized in Parliament House. Parliament TV was jointly launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu, and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. This channel has been formed by merging Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha TV.
Launching Parliament TV, PM Modi said, “Today is International Day of Democracy, so the launch of ‘Parliament TV’ becomes more relevant. When it comes to democracy, India’s responsibility increases. India is the mother of democracy. Democracy for us is not just a constitutional framework but a soul, it is ‘Jeevan Dhara’.”
PM Modi said, “Today is adding another important chapter in our parliamentary system. Today the country is getting such a medium of communication and dialogue in the form of Parliament TV, which will serve as the new voice of the country’s democracy and people’s representatives.
With this launch, Sansad TV will now have two channels to ensure live streaming of both the Houses during the Parliament session. Sansad TV is being set up as a cerebral channel, which will provide high quality content to national and international audiences on topics related to the country’s democratic ethos and institutions. When Parliament is in session, Parliament TV will have two channels so that the proceedings of both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha can be broadcast simultaneously.

The CEO of the channel was appointed in March. Retired IAS officer Ravi Kapoor has been made the CEO of ‘Parliament TV’.
