Irfan Solanki, the evasive Samajwadi MLA, the SP MLA from Sisamau (in Kanpur), and his younger brother Rizwan Solanki have surrendered before the UP Police on Friday.
Irfan Solanki and his younger brother Rizwan Solanki were wanted by police in connection with rioting and arson they allegedly caused at Nazir Fatima’s home on November 8 in a case involving a land dispute.
Irfan Solanki was absconding following issuance of Non bailable warrant
Irfan Solanki, who was evading arrest on a non-bailable warrant, came to the commissioner’s office earlier in the day to turn himself in. In addition to the violation of the Code of Conduct, cases involving arson, extortion, and property disputes have been filed against him.

The MLA has six cases against him – five were filed during the elections over the years. During this year’s assembly elections, two cases of violation of Code of Conduct were also filed against him.
Irfan Solanki, however, has issued a video message in which he disputes all of the claims and downplays the accusations made against him. He also asks Speaker Satish Mohana to appoint a committee of MLAs to thoroughly investigate the allegations against him in order to ensure justice.

Irfan Solanki and his brother surrendered before Commissioner of Police SP Jagdanad at his camp office on Friday. They were joined by SP MLAs from Arya Nagar and Kanpur Cantt, Amitabh Bajpai and Mohammad Hasan alias Roomi, as well as their family members. They were then taken into custody by the police.
Additionally, it has been decided to bring them before the court and request police custody in order to learn more about their hiding places and supporters.
