Republican Party of India (RPI) national president and Union minister Ramdas Athawale said on Wednesday that his party will contest the upcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly elections in 10-12 seats dominated by Muslims, Dalits and backward classes in alliance with the BJP. can. He told reporters here that talks are being held with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President Jagat Prakash Nadda in this regard.

In Gorakhpur, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale said, ‘Republican Party of India is already in NDA, RPI should be kept together in Uttar Pradesh elections and some seats should be given to RPI. I spoke to JP Nadda about this. I spoke to Amit Shah yesterday (Tuesday) that if RPI is kept together, then Bahujan Samaj Party can suffer huge loss and BJP can get good advantage in it.

The RPI is a constituent of the ruling National Democratic Alliance at the Center and Athawale is the Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment in the Narendra Modi government at the Centre. Athawale told that his party will start its campaign in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly elections on 26 September through ‘Bahujan Kalyan Yatra’ in Saharanpur which will culminate in a massive rally at Ramabai Ambedkar Park in Lucknow on 18 December.

PM Modi not against Muslim community: Ramdas Athawale

Replying to a question, he said that neither BJP nor Prime Minister Modi is against the Muslim community and they believe in the spirit of ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’. When asked about the farmers’ ongoing agitation against the new agricultural laws, the Union Minister said that those who are protesting do not come from the farming community and the truth is that 80% of the farmers of the country are still with Modi and BJP. Huh. Athawale stressed on the need of inter-caste marriage and said that it is an effective way to bring social harmony in the present scenario. He told that in the last few years, 1.25 lakh inter-caste marriages have been conducted in the country.
