Rajkot International Airport will start by August

Rajkot (RajkotAccording to the District Magistrate of Hirasar Airport or Rajkot Greenfield International Airport (Rajkot International Airport) is expected to be launched by August this year. With this Prime Minister Narendra Modi (PM Modi) will strengthen the approach of ‘Hawai Chappal to Airplane’. This airport is located at a distance of 30 km from the industrial city of Rajkot. The airport has been developed in an area of 1032 hectares. It has a passenger terminal area of 23 thousand square meters and 14 parking stands have been built. Rajkot district magistrate Arun Mahesh Babu told that very good progress has been made in the construction work and this airport is expected to be operational by August or September this year.
He said that about 85 percent work on the runway has been completed. He also informed that a total of 12 districts of Saurashtra region would be benefited by this new airport. Because this area is a big center of manufacturing activities, which depends on air connectivity. He said that along with silk products and ceramic products, our manufacturing products can be moved faster in this area.
7 Boarding Gate Facility
The airport is being doubled as a cargo airport. Rajcourt DM said that there will be seven boarding gates at the airport, out of which three will be aerobridges and three will be conveyor belts. He further said that since the airport will be international, there will be 8 immigration counters along with two customs counters. At its peak, the airport will be able to handle over 1280 passengers in a given time frame.
PM Modi laid the foundation stone in 2017
Located on the Rajkot-Ahmedabad highway, the airport will bring in time and cost related solutions for logistics for various industries in the Saurashtra region of Gujarat. In the year 2018, Rs 1405 crore was approved by the Modi government for the airport. In the year 2017, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stone of this project. The existing Rajcourt Airport is in the center of the city and due to the residential and commercial buildings around it, a lot of restrictions have been imposed. It is unable to service aircraft larger than the Airbus 320, Boeing 737-800.
