‘Didn’t do anything even after being water power minister’
Gehlot on Monday targeted Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat regarding the ERCP project. Taking a dig at Shekhawat, he said that despite being the Jal Shakti Minister from Rajasthan, he is not doing anything for the state. He said, it is beyond comprehension that if the water project of a desert and water-deficient state like Rajasthan does not get the status of a national project, then which state will get it? This situation is when the MPs here are the Jalshakti Minister, but they are not doing anything for the state.
He said that it is our intention that the work of East Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP) should be completed soon. With this project, 13 districts of eastern Rajasthan will get drinking water and irrigation water. The state government has so far spent about 1000 crores on ERCP. Along with this, 9600 crores have also been proposed in this budget.
‘Gehlot did not forget his son’s defeat’
Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat also retaliated on Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. Reminding me of the Lok Sabha elections, he said, in the statements of Ashok Gehlot, I hear the anguish of the defeat of his son in Jodhpur. He has not forgotten the Jodhpur Lok Sabha seat result till date and since then he considers me as his biggest enemy, but I sympathize with him.
He said that he is not only misusing the government machinery to instigate them, but Gehlot himself is giving absurd statements. Shekhawat said, I have challenged them, they should prove their very concocted allegations against Modiji, but instead of giving evidence, they want to entangle the main issue in the debate.
The aim is to remove water scarcity
It is known that the purpose of this project is to collect the remaining water during the rainy season in the rivers of southern Rajasthan. It involves collecting the remaining water present during the rainy season in its tributaries including Chambal, Kunnu, Parvati, Kalisindh of southern Rajasthan. This stored water is to be used in 13 south eastern districts of the state where there is a shortage of water for drinking and irrigation.
