Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said that Rajiv Gandhi Rural Olympics is being organized from 29 August to 2 October to create an environment for large scale sports in the state. The event will be organized at the gram panchayat, block, district and state level.

Addressing the review meeting of the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports at his official residence on Saturday, the Chief Minister said that these games would be organized at the gram panchayat, block, district and state level, which would encourage sports and sportspersons. He said that Rural Olympics is being organized for the first time in the country, in which about 27 lakh players from across the state will participate. According to CM Gehlot, kabaddi, shooting, volleyball, tennis ball cricket, kho-kho and hockey competitions will be organized at 11,341 gram panchayats, 352 blocks, 33 districts and state level in this rural Olympics.
At the same time, this event will become a major medium of talent search in the state and Rajasthan will be counted among the leading states in the field of sports in future.
For the first time in the state, from village level to state level, Rajiv Gandhi Rural Olympics will be organized from Sports Day on 29 August to Gandhi Jayanti on 2 October. In the past, these games were postponed due to COVID.

40 crore approved for rural Olympics
Gehlot said that the government has given financial approval of Rs 40 crore for organizing the Rural Olympics. He said that the State Government is running several ambitious schemes to develop basic sports facilities for training sportspersons, encouraging sportspersons and sportspersons and organizing sports activities.
The government has given a total of 164 appointments to the players under the out-of-turn policy and the process of appointing 65 players is currently going on. Apart from this, according to Gehlot, a pension scheme is also being implemented for the players in the state.
Rajasthan tops in MNREGA scheme: Gehlot
At the same time, after another review meeting of the Rural Development Department, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said that Rajasthan tops the country in the budget allocation for laborers under the MNREGA scheme and the rate of their payment has also increased rapidly. The CM claimed that the state also ranks first in the country in the creation of families and man-days for completing 100 days of work under the Mahatma Gandhi National Employment Guarantee Scheme. He also said that Rajasthan also ranks first in the national mobile monitoring system of MNREGA scheme.
In the meeting of the Rural Development Department, Gehlot further said that additional employment of 25 days is being given by the state government to the families who complete 100 days under MNREGA. Along with this, orders have also been issued to give 100 days additional employment to Sahariya, Khairua, Kathori and Divyang. At the same time, arrangements have been made for MNREGA workers in the midst of scorching heat, besides drinking water, shade, crche, medical kit, soap and sanitizer at the workplace.
