Excessive temperature has caused damage to litchi
In the last week of April, the temperature had reached around 40 degree Celsius, due to which symptoms like burning on the skin of the fruit started appearing. The cells of the sun-burned peels had died. Now that the flesh of the fruit is developing from inside, the peels are getting torn from the burnt part. According to Dr SK Singh, the solution is over head sprinkler. There are many reasons for fruit cracking.
He told the farmers that the fruits of the famous Shahi litchi have to be harvested around 20-25. Merely developing a deep red color in the fruits should not be considered that the fruit has become harvestable. Harvesting of fruits should be done only after the fruit becomes sweet. Use of insecticides must be stopped 15 days before harvesting of fruits. Unnecessary agricultural chemicals should not be sprayed, otherwise the quality of the fruit may be affected.
