The Meteorological Department has forecasted continued rainfall in areas including Bhopal, Raisen, Sehore, Vidisha, Narmadapuram, Sagar, Betul, Panna, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, Niwari, and Ashoknagar in Madhya Pradesh. Meanwhile, dense fog is expected to prevail in the Gwalior, Chambal, Indore, Shahdol, Jabalpur, and Ujjain regions. In the last 24 hours, Bhopal recorded a maximum temperature of 19.9°C and a minimum of 14.1°C, while Indore saw a maximum of 18.3°C and a minimum of 15.0°C. Gwalior reported a maximum of 15.6°C and a minimum of 7.9°C. Other cities like Sagar, Datia, Shivpuri, and Rajgarh also recorded varying temperatures.
Gwalior Experiences Severe Cold Days, Fog Affects Visibility
Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh has witnessed seven severe cold days out of the last nine days, with temperatures dipping considerably. The city is currently shivering in a cold spell more intense than Shimla. On January 5, Gwalior’s maximum temperature was 15.6°C, compared to Shimla’s 17°C. The temperatures in Gwalior remained 6.3°C below normal. The night temperature in Gwalior was recorded at 7.9°C. The city has experienced its fourth severe cold day of the season on January 5, and no sunshine has been observed for six days. There is a possibility of rain in the region from January 8. According to the weather department, Gwalior is unlikely to see relief from the intense cold until January 14. Due to the freezing temperatures, holidays have been declared for students up to the fifth grade. The district education officer announced holidays for all schools.
Tikamgarh, Chhindwara, Jabalpur Experience Adverse Weather Conditions
The Meteorological Department has predicted rain in Tikamgarh, where thick clouds have covered the sky for the past eight days, and the sun has not appeared during the day. Chhindwara in the Chambal region is experiencing heavy rain since late on January 5, resulting in a significant drop in temperature and intense cold. Jabalpur also witnessed light rainfall on the night of January 5. Dense fog has enveloped the region throughout the day. The weather department expects clouds to persist in Jabalpur for the next three days, leading to increased cold and fog.
