Indian Railways has said that 6015 route kilometers have been electrified in the year 2020-21. This is the highest number of electrification in a year.

Railways have now set a big record in this matter. Indian Railways has electrified more than 6 thousand kilometers of routes during the year 2020-2021.
Indian Railways has informed that 6015 route kilometers have been electrified in the year 2020-21. This is the highest in a year. Railways did this work during the lockdown during Corona. In the year 2018-19, Railways electrified 5276 route kilometers. But in the year 2020-21, the railways made a record by electrifying about 800 root kilometers more.

Indian Railways is trying to play an important role in keeping the environment clean by electrifying its network. At the same time, it is also trying to reduce travel time. People will get relief from pollution due to electric engine. Also, the speed of the railway will also increase.
Bharti Railway tweeted that the Indian Railways is moving towards 100 percent electrification by 2023. In this direction, the Indian Railways has electrified the maximum number of routes despite the unforeseen challenges of the epidemic.

Target of complete electrification by 2023
Out of 64,689 route kilometers of the latest broad gauge network of Indian Railways, 45,881 routes have been electrified till 31 March 2021. This is 71 percent of the total broad gauge network. Railways are working fast in this direction to reduce the country’s dependence on petroleum-based energy. Indian Railways has targeted to electrify the entire rail network by the year 2023. That is, after 2023, diesel engines running in the country will not be seen.
34 percent in just three years
During the last seven years (2014-21), more than five times the electrification of the rail network has taken place compared to 2007-14. A record 24,080 RKMs have been electrified after 2014, while 4,337 RKMs in 2007–14 and 34 per cent of the 45,881 RKMs electrified so far have been completed in the last three years.
