Indian Railway News: When this vehicle is not in cleaning mode, then Indian Railways can also use it as a transport and inspection vehicle.
Instead of manual cleaning of railway tracks, automatic cleaning can now be done by vehicles.
A large part of the country’s population travels by train. Every day millions of people travel by train. Our mood deteriorates when we go to the station and see dirt on the platform or railway track. It is very bad that the dirt is spread despite so many efforts for cleanliness. The work of cleaning railway tracks is done manually now. Even the waste and human feces on the tracks are cleaned by the scavengers. But this work will be automatic in the coming days.
In fact, Dr. Sharad K. Pradhan, Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Bhopal-based National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research, has designed a multi-dimensional (multi-dimensional) railway track cleaning vehicle. This vehicle has been developed with the help of the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Program of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. Designed to make in India, this vehicle will automatically flatten the railway track. A national patent has also been given for this.
How is cleanliness done now?
In the country in 1993, lifting and cleaning of human feces by hand has been banned, but still the situation has not been very right. Even now women and men can be seen removing the stool from the railway tracks with the help of broom and metal leaves. After the waste is removed from the railway tracks, sewage, dirt, oily and foreign substances are cleaned from the tracks by pouring water from the high-pressure jet. This will not happen in the coming days.
Automatic Cleaning: Hand Off … Man Will Not Be Needed
This automatic vehicle is designed to be suited to both road and railways. For railway tracks, instead of only tire-tube wheels, it has been installed with train wheels. That is, it will take the form of an automatic cleaning train on railway tracks. This road and rail equipment is multi-functional and easily operable. It has also been tested.

This vehicle is equipped with a dry and wet suction system, air and water shower nozzle control system. It has a display unit that controls the cleaning system even in the most challenging environment. Through this, only one person besides the driver is needed to clean the railway tracks.
Cleans the dry and wet waste by draining it
Once the dry and wet waste is pulled through the vehicle’s section system, the nozzle splashes water and the sharp edge of the water falling from the jet sweeps away any type of human excreta or other waste. Some other nozzles in the vehicle spray pesticides on the rail track so that flies, rats and other germs cannot thrive on it. Water jets completely remove human feces and other types of wet waste from the tracks.
Cleaning of mud from drains
The dry and wet waste drawn from the section pump is collected in separate tanks and when the tanks are full, it is dumped in the garbage dumping zone of the local bodies. The controlled telescopic section with a lever attached to it clears the sludge from the drains made with pipe tracks. The telescopic section pipe can be properly set up for cleaning the drains on the side of the tracks.
Railways can multi use
Since it is a rail and road friendly vehicle, the railways can also use it as a freight / waste transport vehicle from the rail track to the road. This vehicle can also be used as a maintenance / inspection vehicle and a pesticide spraying vehicle.
When this vehicle is not in cleaning mode, then Indian Railways can also use it as a transport and inspection vehicle. After its successful testing, Indian Railways can now use it as a cleaning vehicle at all stations. Maintenance of this vehicle is very easy. After pilot testing, it can begin large-scale commercial production with Dr. Sharad’s Pradhan.
