Radha ji was born on the Shukla Paksha date of Bhadrapada month. This day is celebrated as Radhashtami. According to Hindu scriptures, Radhaji was born to strengthen the love for Shri Krishna. According to Brahmavaivarta Purana, a beautiful girl appeared from the left limb of Shri Krishna. The girl offered flowers at the feet of Shri Krishna who appeared and sat on his throne while talking. This beautiful girl is Shri Radha. Once Radha had seen Shri Krishna with another wife Viraja, due to which she became sad and started saying bad things to Krishna.

Seeing all this, Shridama, the servant and friend of Shri Krishna, got angry and he cursed Radha to take birth on earth. According to the Puranas, when Goddess Radha and Sridama cursed each other. Then Shri Krishna said that you will be born as the daughter of Goddess Kirti and Vrishabhanu. At the same time, for some people, Radha is a feeling which is obtained by walking on the path of Shri Krishna.

Significance of Radhashtami

Today, on the day of Radhashtami, people who worship Radha with a sincere heart. All their troubles go away. It is believed that by observing this fast all the sins are removed. On this special day, married women perform special poojas and ask for the boon of being unbroken Saubhagyavati. On this special day, making Kheer with honey, sugar candy and offering it to Goddess Radha and Shri Krishna.
