Punjab: Punjab Minister Kuldeep Singh meets Minister of State for External Affairs, discusses to make Amritsar airport international

Minister of Punjab (Punjab) government Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal met Minister of State for External Affairs V. Muraleedharan. During the meeting, many important issues related to overseas Indians were raised. Let us tell you that Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal has submitted a memorandum to Minister of State for External Affairs V. Muraleedharan. Issues of many problems related to NRIs were raised. There has been a demand to start direct flights from Mohali and Amritsar airports for Canada, Australia, USA and many countries. Let us tell you that Punjab has the highest number of residents in these countries and international flights have been affected a lot due to Corona. Along with this, talk of making Chandigarh and Amritsar airports international has also been kept.

Let us tell you that two months ago, Punjab’s Non-Resident Indian Affairs Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal had said that the government has decided to appoint nodal officers in all 23 districts of the state for the convenience of Non-Resident Indians (NRIs). Dhaliwal had also said that special courts would also be set up in Amritsar, Patiala, Ludhiana and Bathinda districts to resolve cases related to NRIs in a time bound manner. Instructions have been given and work will be started soon.

Instructions were given to solve the problems of NRIs

Presiding over a high-level review meeting of officers of the Department of NRI Affairs and members of the NRI Commission, Dhaliwal directed that nodal officers be appointed in a transparent manner and the concerned Deputy Commissioners should review the functioning of these officers on a regular basis. Apart from this, the state government will also coordinate with the central government and embassies to resolve the problems of NRIs, according to an official statement issued here.

Dhaliwal had said that the state government would also honor NRIs for doing remarkable work in various fields. The Minister had said that the Department of NRI Affairs would also coordinate with the Rural Development and Panchayat Department to collect village-based data of all NRIs. While regular international flights were stopped from March 2020 due to the havoc of Corona. . India was operating flights with air bubble arrangements with other countries as the cases of corona decreased and vaccination picked up after the gradual easing of lockdown restrictions.
