Politics has heated up in Karnataka over the scheme of giving 10 kg of rice free of cost. Where the Siddaramaiah government is blaming the central government for not supplying rice, now the Telangana government has also raised its hands for help. The Karnataka government had promised to give 10 kg rice to all BPL families at the time of elections, but now it does not have enough rice.
However, now the Bhagwant Mann government of Punjab has raised some hope. The Punjab government has offered help in the form of rice supplies.
Punjab government offered to supply rice
In fact, the Karnataka unit of AAP said that the Punjab government led by Bhagwant Mann is ready to help Karnataka by providing the necessary rice to implement the scheme. In a letter to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday, AAP Karnataka convenor Prithvi Reddy said that the AAP government in Punjab is ready to provide rice required for the implementation of the Anna Bhagya scheme in Karnataka. He said that he had a detailed discussion on this issue with Punjab Chief Minister Mann.
Bhagwant Mann has given a positive response: Prithvi Reddy
AAP state president Prithvi Reddy said that Bhagwant Mann has responded positively and in principle has agreed to supply rice from Punjab to Karnataka. You firmly believe that irrespective of political differences, all parties should support initiatives that are meant to help the people of our country. Reddy also took a jibe at the BJP government at the Center for allegedly refusing to provide additional rice to Karnataka.
In his letter, the AAP state chief said it is both surprising and sad that the BJP-led central government has refused to provide additional rice to the state to meet the new Anna Bhagya scheme proposed by your government.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said this after talking to Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. Siddaramaiah said in the press conference that the Telangana government said that they do not have rice.
