However, according to information received from sources, Ambika Soni has decided to keep herself out of the race for the Chief Minister of Punjab. According to sources, the party high command, including Sonia Gandhi, has unanimously forwarded Ambika Soni’s name for the Chief Minister of Punjab.
According to sources, the helicopter of CM’s office has left to pick up Ambika Soni. This decision of the high command can be told to the Sidhu camp in the meeting of Congress MLAs at 11 o’clock. Central observers have been instructed to deal with the protests of the Sidhu camp.
With this decision, the Congress has also canceled the legislature party meeting to be held today. However, according to sources, Ambika Soni has refused to become the Chief Minister of Punjab. Significantly, on Saturday, Captain Amarinder Singh had resigned from the post of Chief Minister of Punjab. Congress Legislature Party meeting in Punjab on Saturday passed a resolution urging party president Sonia Gandhi to decide on the next leader of the legislature party. According to party’s state in-charge Harish Rawat and Congress central observer Ajay Maken, another resolution was passed in the legislature party meeting thanking Amarinder Singh for his contribution towards Punjab and the party.
Rawat said, “It has been a tradition in the Congress that the Congress President should be authorized to choose a new leader. Our legislature party of Punjab also followed the same tradition and urged the Congress President to decide on the new leader. Whichever leader the Congress President chooses, it will be accepted by everyone. At the same time, Maken said that 78 out of 80 Congress MLAs were present in the legislature party meeting and no name was discussed for the chief minister.
