The upcoming Punjab Assembly Elections is becoming like a crime thriller, in which till the end it is not known who is killing whom and why. Now less than three months are left for the elections to be held, but day by day politics is getting complicated in the state. It is becoming difficult to tell who has taken the betel nut to kill whom. Navjot Singh Sidhu was walking with a dagger behind the then Chief Minister of his own Congress party, Captain Amarinder Singh. Amarinder Singh accused Sidhu of joining the Aam Aadmi Party and trying to weaken the Congress. Sidhu has committed three murders so far – Sunil Jakhar was removed from the post of state president and then Amarinder Singh was removed from the post of chief minister by the Congress high command on Sidhu’s demand. And now the third murder happened of Advocate General of Punjab APS Deol. Deol had to resign due to Sidhu’s opposition. Director General of Police Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota can be beheaded anytime, because Sidhu does not like him and the Congress high command likes Sidhu.
Sidhu has ruined the Congress after becoming the state president, but he has not yet joined the Aam Aadmi Party. It is certain that Sidhu has taken the betel nut to kill the Congress party and to an extent he is succeeding, but who gave him the betel nut remains a mystery. Perhaps the Aam Aadmi Party which is still waiting for Sidhu and has not yet announced its chief ministerial candidate! It is also possible that Rahul Gandhi may have given Sidhu the contract of Amarinder Singh, because Amarinder Singh did not consider Rahul Gandhi as his leader and did not attend his court. Whether the party wins or loses elections, it probably doesn’t matter that much to Rahul Gandhi. As much as they have an umbrella rule over the Congress party.
BJP killed the dreams of Captain Amarinder Singh
The Congress party probably did not expect that Amarinder Singh would leave the Congress party and form his own Punjab Lok Congress party. This will have a direct impact on the Congress party. Since forming his party last week after resigning as chief minister in September, Amarinder Singh has met Union Home Minister Amit Shah, considered the modern Chanakya, four times. It is possible that Shah has hired Amarinder Singh against the Congress party!
Amarinder Singh formed his party at the behest of BJP, but till now he was waiting that on his suggestion, the central government would announce some amendments in the agricultural laws to fix the minimum price on agricultural crops, so that the farmers’ movement would end. Let him have an alliance with BJP and with the support of farmers, he becomes the Chief Minister once again. But on Sunday, contrary to expectations, the BJP National Executive meeting did not even discuss agricultural laws, on the contrary, the BJP announced that it is preparing to contest all 117 seats in Punjab. That is, the murder of Amarinder Singh’s dreams is now fixed and who gave the betel nut to BJP for this is beyond comprehension. Amarinder Singh is no longer in a position to win the Punjab elections on his own and the BJP has not yet become strong enough in Punjab to come to power by contesting alone. BJP has decided to contest all the seats in Punjab on the basis of the report of the party’s state president Ashwini Sharma.
Difficult for BJP to reach the seat of power alone
The Shiromani Akali Dal broke its old ties with the BJP last year in protest against the agricultural laws. If BJP wants to take more seats by intimidating and negotiating Amarinder Singh, then it is understandable, but by contesting elections alone, how will BJP win 59 seats by taking a giant leap from three MLAs in the current assembly so that its government is formed in Punjab. Well, it’s just a confusion. Is it that someone has hired Ashwini Sharma to kill her own party in Punjab, if yes then who could she be?
At a glance, it seems that no party in Punjab is preparing to win the election, but is preparing to hide each other or lose the election itself. Talking about Shiromani Akali Dal, the chances of the party winning the elections are almost negligible. And the Aam Aadmi Party, which is the largest opposition party in the current assembly, has taken an ax on its own foot. The party is gaining a reputation as a party of extremists in Punjab, which cannot be the formula to win elections. To know who was successful in killing whom in Punjab and who got the benefit, one will have to wait till the election results are out, because it is not only difficult but impossible to tell who will win in Punjab.
