In Punjab, 4 people died and 9 were injured when a roof of a factory collapsed in Baba Mukand Singh Nagar in Ludhiana on Monday. Around 40 people were evacuated from the scene, most of whom are laborers. Deputy Commissioner Varinder Sharma said that the owner of the factory was getting the work done to elevate the lintel without the permission of the Municipal Corporation.
Teams of the National Disaster Response Force, State Disaster Response Force and the body unit were involved in rescue and relief operations. Officials said one person was rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead. While one person was found dead in the debris, another person died in the hospital due to injury. Ludhiana Police Commissioner Rakesh Aggarwal said that a case has been registered against the factory owner and the contractor.

The dead have been identified as Mustakin and Sagar Kumar from Bihar and Pichu and Imtiaz from Ludhiana.
According to the spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office, the magistrate will be investigated on behalf of the Commissioner of Patiala Division and he has been instructed to submit the report in two weeks. The Chief Minister made it clear that strict action will be taken against those found guilty for negligence.
