Found dead: Three members of a family including a couple and their eight-year-old son were found dead at their apartment in Aundh area of Pune on Wednesday. According to preliminary investigations suggested that the man first killed his wife and son and then committed suicide. The reason behind the incident was yet to be ascertained.
Police identified the deceased as Sudipto Ganguly (44), his wife Priyanka (40) and their son Tanishk (8). Police found them dead at their apartment when after entering the house in DP Road area. Sudipto worked for an multinational IT major till eight months ago and had left his job to start a business.
No response to calls
Police said on Tuesday, the Sudipto’s mother was trying to call the family to give wish her grandson for his exams. When no one picked up, she informed Sudipto’s brother who lives in Bangalore. He too tried calling the family but did not get any response. He then sent a friend to check on them but no one answered the door.
The family then approached the police with a missing complaint. Cops launched a probe into the missing complainant and found their phone locations at home. They then opened the house with a duplicate key and found all three of them dead.
Woman’s head wrapped in polythene
A senior officer said the mother and child were lying dead in the bedroom with the woman’s head wrapped in polythene. Pieces of polythene were found next to the boy’s body too suggesting that he had been killed in the same manner and polythene was later removed.
