The Indian Navy and the Indian Air Force together participated in the testing of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile.

A BrahMos supersonic cruise missile was test fired by the Indian Navy’s warship INS Delhi on 19 April. A decommissioned Navy ship was used as a target. Brahmos officials gave this information. (Indian Navy Twitter)
Officials said the missile had no warhead of any kind and it left a huge hole after the attack on the ship. He told that the missile moves towards the target at a speed of about 3000 kmph. It is difficult to catch this missile by air defense system. (Indian Navy Twitter)
The Indian Air Force also participated in this campaign. Demonstrating its operational preparedness, the IAF successfully test-fired BrahMos supersonic cruise missile from a Sukhoi fighter aircraft on the eastern seaboard. The Air Force said the missile was tested in close coordination with the Indian Navy. Officials said the missile hit the target with precision. (Indian Navy Twitter)
The Air Force said in a tweet, ‘Today the Air Force test-fired BrahMos missile from Sukhoi-30 MKI aircraft off the eastern seaboard. The missile hit the decommissioned naval ship directly under the target. The test took place in close coordination with the Navy. (Indian Air Force)
In 2016, the government decided to add air-capable versions of BrahMos to more than 40 Sukhoi fighter jets. The project was envisioned to enhance the capability of the IAF to strike any target at sea or on land from a large ‘stand-off range’. (ANI)
