Recalling his tenure as Gujarat chief minister, Modi said his government had initiated a project to build one lakh bori-bands or check dams using sacks filled with soil to recharge groundwater. The Prime Minister urged the Panchayat members to build such economical check dams in their villages to collect and store rain water.
