Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat said that ceasefire has been followed so far along the Line of Control (LoC), which is a positive sign. Why did the Pakistani army agree to ceasefire? In response to this question, General Rawat said that in the last two years, there was a huge violation of ceasefire, in which small arms to high caliber weapons were also used. He said that this has caused a lot of damage to the defense infrastructure of the Pakistan Army, they have lost many soldiers.
Talking to news agency ANI, General Rawat said about the ceasefire, “His soldiers used to fire very close to the villages, so people and animals living there were also harmed. Whereas we are quite different from our population on the Line of Control. When the firing took place, there was also pressure from the civilian side to enforce the ceasefire. This could be a reason.”
He further said, “Today the Western Front of Pakistan is also very active and its internal security is not in proper condition. If you look at all these problems happening with Pakistan, all these things must have made their leadership think that the best way is to maintain peace with India. If they want peace and it lasts for a long time, it will be good for both the countries, especially Pakistan.
On arms smuggling and infiltration after the ceasefire, he said, “At the same time, we are also looking at the smuggling of arms and ammunition and the use of drones. This is not good for peace, because the supply of drugs and weapons interferes with the internal peace process. If the internal peace process is disrupted then we cannot say that ceasefire is in place. The ceasefire does not mean that you just continue the ceasefire on the border and at the same time create problems in the interior areas. We want peace in entire Jammu and Kashmir.”
China changed its deployment on LAC: Rawat
Regarding the recent activities of China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) near the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh, General Rawat said that after the Galwan and other areas on the border with India (May-June 2020) Change has come. “After these incidents, they have realized that they need to train and prepare better,” he said.
The CDS further said, “Their jawans mainly come from civilian street. They are recruited for a short time. They do not have much experience of fighting in these areas. It is a difficult country, there are hilly areas. You need special training for this, in which our jawans are expert because we have a lot of training for hilly battlefields. While this is not the case with the Chinese army. We need to keep an eye on every activity of China. In doing so, we also have to maintain peace along the LAC.”
People of Jammu and Kashmir want peace- CDS
General Bipin Rawat said, “I am sure the people of Jammu and Kashmir want peace. They have seen a lot of terrorism and extremism over the years. People are looking for peace in the area especially after the abrogation of Article 370. If this continues, a time will come when people themselves will abstain from violence and will not allow militancy to flourish in the Valley, as terror and insurgency cannot flourish without the support of the local people.”
He said that the youth who have been misled, we need to identify them and see how to interact with them and make them understand that terrorism is not the right path but peace is the way forward. is the way.
India and Pakistan had agreed to strictly follow the ceasefire agreements and mutual agreements along the Line of Control from the midnight of February 24-25. However, the Indian Army had also said that there would be no reduction in the deployment of troops or military operations along the Pakistan border to fight terrorism and infiltration.
