Anil Tiwari told that there are 20 panchayats in Meral block, even after having such a large area, only one pack has been opened for the purchase of paddy in the block. Due to this farmers are facing problems.
In Jharkhand, the matter of buying paddy from farmers at the government rate has always been controversial. Many times controversies keep getting associated with it. This time too it has been embroiled in controversies. Because many districts of the state still do not have sufficient quantity of lapps or paddy procurement centers, due to this the farmers are facing problems. The middlemen are directly benefiting from the reduction in paddy procurement centers. Farmers are forced to sell their hard-earned paddy at throwaway prices.
The matter is of Garhwa district, where procurement of paddy through PACS has not yet started in Meral block. There is resentment among the farmers about this. Because even after repeated assurances by the government, till now the procurement of paddy from farmers through PACS has not started. It is worth noting that this time the procurement of paddy at the government rate in the state has also started from December 15. While announcing the purchase of paddy, the state government had said that this time 562 paddy purchase centers will be opened in the state for the purchase of paddy. But despite this, the procurement of paddy has not started in many places. Due to this, the paddy of the farmers is also getting damaged.
One pack is not enough to buy paddy in Meral
This is the second case of delay in procurement of paddy in Garhwa district, the farmers led by the Block President of Indian Farmers Association of Garhwa, Anil Tiwari, had met the CO of Meral block regarding the delay in paddy procurement and in view of the area of Meral block. And for the convenience of the farmers, there was a demand to increase the number of packs. Anil Tiwari told that there are 20 panchayats in Meral block, even after having such a large area, only one pack has been opened for the purchase of paddy in the block. Due to this farmers are facing problems.
Deputy commissioner had given assurance of opening paddy purchasing center
At the same time, he told that he had also met the Deputy Commissioner of the district last week regarding this problem. In view of the problems of the farmers, Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Kumar Pathak had assured to open paddy purchase centers in four other PACS including Devgana, Peska and Tenar of Meral block but till now no initiative has been taken on this.
Consent was made to open 44 paddy purchasing centers in the district
During this, farmer Gopal Ram of Meral block said that due to non-starting of paddy procurement at MSP till now, middlemen are getting benefit in the block. Farmers are forced to sell their paddy to middlemen at very low prices. This is causing loss to the farmers. Farmers want to sell paddy early so that they can get money and they can plant other crops in their fields. It is worth mentioning that the district administration had sent a proposal to open 34 paddy purchasing centers in Garhwa to the government, apart from this again a proposal to open 10 more paddy purchasing centers was sent, after which it was agreed to open 44 paddy purchasing centers in the district. .
