Omicron Variant: Omicron’s shadow is deepening in Delhi, the number of suspected patients increased to 15

The central government has placed the UK, South Africa, Brazil, China, Botswana, New Zealand, Mauritius, Singapore, Zimbabwe, Israel and Hong Kong in the Ku list of high risk countries. Along with this, RTPCR test is necessary for travelers coming from these countries.

Omicron’s shadow is deepening in Delhi

Fear is increasing about the new Omicron variant of Coronavirus found in South Africa. In India, cases of Omicron have been found in Karnataka, Maharashtra and Gujarat. With this, its danger is increasing continuously in Delhi as well. According to the information, 15 passengers returned from high risk countries are admitted in LNJP Hospital in Delhi. All these samples have been sent for genome sequencing. Their report is expected in 4-5 days.

Officials have told that these 15 suspected patients have been admitted to LNJP Hospital. 9 of them are corona positive. While the remaining 6 have symptoms like sore throat and fever. Last week itself, the Delhi government had reserved LNJP Hospital for the treatment of Omicron infected.

3 new patients have returned from UK

The number of suspected patients admitted in the hospital was 12 till Friday. Now it has increased to 15. LNJP’s medical director Dr. Suresh Kumar told that the three new patients who have been found have all returned from the UK. According to the information, the central government has placed UK, South Africa, Brazil, China, Botswana, New Zealand, Mauritius, Singapore, Zimbabwe, Israel and Hong Kong in the high risk countries list. Along with this, RTPCR test is necessary for travelers coming from these countries. These passengers are allowed to leave the airport only after the result is out. Apart from this, passengers coming from other countries are also being screened at the airport.

Omicron has been confirmed in 4 people so far

So far 4 patients of Omicron variant have been found in the country. Of these, 2 patients have been found from Karnataka, 1-1 from Maharashtra and Gujarat. The age of the patients found in Karnataka are 66 and 46 years. Both have mild symptoms and both had returned from South Africa. In Gujarat too, the Omicron variant has been confirmed in a 72-year-old patient on Saturday. This patient had returned from Zimbabwe. At the same time, in Mumbai, a person who came through South Africa and Dubai has been found infected with Omicron.
