Former Haryana Chief Minister Omprakash Chautala (Former CM Omprakash Chautala), who is serving a 10-year prison sentence in the teacher recruitment scam case and currently out on parole, is going to be released from Tihar Jail. Chautala will be released after a six-month remission by the Delhi government.
Om Prakash Chautala’s younger Abhay Singh Chautala, grandson and Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala have expressed happiness over the developments. In fact, the Delhi government on Monday passed an order to decongest the jails in view of the Corona epidemic. Under which, out of 10 years’ sentence, prisoners who had spent nine and a half years were given a special exemption of six months. Officials said that since Chautala has already served nine years and nine months, he deserves to be released from jail.

Reacting to the developments, Omprakash Chautala’s younger son Abhay Chautala said the Chautala family would be grateful to those who “showed their love and offered prayers in the time of crisis”. Abhay Chautala tweeted, “Under his (OPrakash Chautala) leadership, the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) will continue to follow the path shown by Chaudhary Devi Lal and fight for the farmers and weaker sections of the society.”

Dushyant’s brother Digvijay Singh Chautala has also expressed happiness over the developments. Omprakash Chautala, his son Ajay Chautala and 53 others, including IAS officer Sanjeev Kumar, were sentenced to different terms after being found guilty of illegal recruitment of 3,2016 Junior Basic Teachers (JBTs) in 2000.
