In a major step toward digitising public education, the Gautam Budh Nagar district administration has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the HCLFoundation to set up digital learning labs in 72 government schools across the district. The initiative aims to bridge the digital divide and promote interactive, hands-on learning in both primary and secondary schools.

As part of the project, 12 selected schools will be equipped with integrated mobile STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) labs, while the remaining will receive digital learning facilities. The initiative will cover 54 primary schools and 18 secondary schools, according to district officials.

Mobile Labs for Rural and Underserved Schools

District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma, who presided over the MoU signing ceremony on Wednesday, also inaugurated the mobile STEM and digital labs. These mobile labs are specially designed vans equipped with smart screens, tablets, robotics kits, science experiment setups, and modular workstations that can travel to schools—especially those in rural or underserved regions.

“These labs will not only promote curiosity and innovation among students but also ensure better access to quality education. The partnership is a significant step towards transforming our district’s educational ecosystem,” said Verma.

Enhancing Learning for Classes 6 to 10

The mobile STEM labs will primarily cater to students from Class 6 to 10, offering project-based learning, science demonstrations, and interactive workshops. The focus will be on cultivating curiosity, creativity, and practical knowledge among students who otherwise have limited access to advanced educational tools.

Boosting Digital Literacy and Innovation

“This initiative marks a crucial milestone in our efforts to strengthen foundational and digital learning in government schools,” said Rahul Pawar, Basic Education Officer, Gautam Budh Nagar. “These interventions will help create a more inclusive and engaging learning environment for our students.”

The digital labs are expected to enhance the overall learning outcomes by introducing modern tools and technology, making education more accessible and effective in government-run institutions.

Inclusive and Future-Ready Education

Nidhi Pundhir, Director of HCLFoundation and Global CSR Head at HCLTech, said, “We aim to bridge the digital divide and believe that every child deserves quality, inclusive, and future-oriented education. The mobile labs would help cultivate creative thinking and 21st-century skills among students.”

She also noted that the Foundation is working with visually impaired students using robotics and assistive technology, and has so far helped reintegrate over 6,000 out-of-school children into the formal education system.

The initiative is expected to serve as a model for scalable digital transformation in education, combining public governance and private sector innovation to uplift education standards in government schools.
