NITI Aayog (NITI Aayog) claims that the Aadhaar card has greatly facilitated the detection of fake identity cards and due to this the government has benefited in crores of rupees. NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant (CEO Amitabh Kant) said on Wednesday that Aadhaar card has become ‘Aadhaar’ for welfare schemes of the government and ‘fake and duplicate identity’ (Duplicate IdentitiesBy eliminating ) the government has saved more than Rs 2 lakh crore.
Participating in a workshop on ‘Recent Initiatives for Simplifying Aadhaar usage’ in the national capital Delhi, Amitabh Kant said, “Aadhaar has become a key base for government welfare schemes and without any intervention OR ensures faster profit transfer to middlemen and also saves huge amount of money.”
Aadhaar scheme affected even the World Bank: Kant
Terming Aadhaar as one of the “most successful” biometric-based identification programs in the world, he said, “It has inspired consultations and discussions with international multilateral agencies such as the World Bank and the United Nations, thereby ascertaining To know how the Aadhaar architecture can be adopted in other countries.
NITI Aayog chief Kant said, “It is appreciable to know that 315 central schemes and 500 state level schemes are taking advantage of Aadhaar to ensure effective delivery of services… Aadhaar has now become an integral part of government welfare schemes. This ensures fast profit transfer without any interruptions or middlemen. This helps in eliminating fake and duplicate identities and thereby saves Rs 2.22 lakh crore.
12 digit aadhar card
Aadhar card is a 12 digit Aadhaar number issued to residents of India after completing the verification process prescribed by UIDAI (the “Authority”). Any person, irrespective of age and gender, who is a resident of India, can voluntarily file a nomination to obtain an Aadhaar number.
The person desirous of enrollment will have to provide minimum demographic and biometric information during the enrollment process which is completely free of cost. A person needs to enroll for Aadhaar only once and only one Aadhaar will be generated after de-duplication.
It is the only program of its kind globally, providing a state-of-the-art digital and online ID free of cost to such a large number of people, and has the potential to change the way service delivery works.
