Horticulture will get a boost in Jharkhand (indicative picture)
For all-round development of horticulture crops in all the districts, a five-day training program will be organized for ‘Bagwan Mitra’ at Panchayat level and ‘Udyan Mitra’ (Horticulture Friend) farmers in the block. During this training these people will be trained in technical methods for cultivation of horticultural crops.
The soil and geographical location of Jharkhand is considered most suitable for horticulture. There is a lot of land in the state, where cultivation of vegetables can not bring better results. Therefore, efforts are being made to promote horticulture in the state. Farmers of Jharkhand will be given training in horticulture farming. The state government is planning to organize various training programs for better implementation of various schemes and promotion of horticulture with the aim of creating new employment opportunities for farmers, youth and women.
To increase the income of farmers
The objective of this scheme is to increase the multi-dimensional development of horticulture crops and increase the income of the farmers. It aims to benefit the people of the state by taking advantage of climate, soil and favorable ecology for horticulture crops. The government plan is to connect the youth, farmers and women of the state with these schemes and benefit them.
Emphasis will be on alternative farming
The state government is working on this scheme for the multifaceted development of horticulture crops as well as to increase the income of the farmers. Agriculture Director Nisha Oraon says that to increase the income of farmers, farmers will have to pay attention to alternative farming. Those farmers who do vegetable cultivation, if those farmers join flower farming, then they will get additional income.
Farmers will be given training
Along with this, Nisha Oraon said that for all-round development of horticulture crops in all the districts of the state, a five-day training program would be organized for ‘Bagwan Mitra’ at Panchayat level and ‘Udyan Mitra’ (Horticulture Friend) farmers in the block. During this training these people will be trained in technical methods for cultivation of horticultural crops. During the training, the state government will give allowance to the trainees and make arrangements for food, movement and lodging of the trainees. Along with this, the trainees who complete the training will be awarded with certificates.
Urban youth will also get training
Under this scheme a dedicated training program has been planned for the urban youth. This will promote beautification in urban areas through skill development of urban youth in horticulture and horticulture crop production. This training will be organized in collaboration with the institutions of identified importance run by the Government of Jharkhand and the Government of India. This training session will last for 25 days
Farming will be done as per demand
The state government is planning to promote the cultivation of chillies and other spices, which are in great demand in the market. As per the plan’s blueprint, initially 1330 hectares of land in different districts of Jharkhand will be promoted for chilli cultivation. Along with this, farmers will be trained about incorporating new techniques in mushroom cultivation.
floriculture will be promoted
The government is making efforts to motivate farmers for floriculture and papaya production. Initially, floriculture will be promoted in 1000 hectare area in the state. The government has set a target of planting about eight lakh papaya saplings in the financial year 2021-22. Plants will be made available to the farmers for plantation.
