The Agriculture Minister said that indiscriminate use of chemical fertilizers is causing double loss. There is a bad effect on the health of both the earth and human health. Therefore, scientists should insist on reducing it.
Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has said that the scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendra need to work according to the region-wise situation and climate. The indiscriminate use of chemical fertilizers is causing double harm, which is having a bad effect on the health of both the earth and human health. Therefore, scientists need to do more work to reduce it and make farmers aware of its alternatives. By adopting natural farming, farmers can increase their income by reducing the cost of farming along with protecting the soil and human health. There is also a need to motivate farmers to adopt crop diversification.
Tomar said this while inaugurating the administrative building of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Kandukur (District Prakasam, Andhra Pradesh) affiliated to Central Tobacco Research Institute. He said that this center established in the year 2012 is one of the 731 KVKs in the country. Under which there are 28 divisions of Prakasam and Nallour districts. On this occasion, Tomar said that all KVKs are like backbone of agriculture world, on which farmers have great faith. Keeping this up, considering the need of the hour, KVK should increase its speed and contribute in the development of agriculture sector.
Grow advanced crops and use good technology
The Agriculture Minister said that India is in a very good position today in terms of agricultural production, in which agricultural scientists have a major contribution along with farmer-friendly policies of the farmers and the government. KVKs need to play a more active role in the science based transformation of agriculture and allied sectors.
If farmers grow improved crops, use good technology and get information about the health of the soil of their fields by using Soil Health Card, then their income can increase. Use minimum chemical fertilizers and adopt natural farming, in this view the role of KVK is important for the progress and progress of the farmers of its district.

Tomar stressed on making the agriculture sector more strong, so that farmers and villages would be strong, markets would also run, people would have money in their pockets and the country’s economy would be strong. Farmers will be able to get better income by producing quality products and doing good marketing. Tomar said that the export of agricultural products has been done to the tune of Rs 4 lakh crore, in which agricultural scientists have a huge contribution.

The Agriculture Minister stressed on connecting more and more farmers through the newly being formed 10 thousand FPOs. Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary, DARE and Director General of ICAR, Dr. TR Sharma, DDG (Crop Science) of ICAR and Dr. AK Singh, DDG (Agriculture Extension) also addressed the people on the occasion.
