Wrestler Rani Rana, a resident of Suriya Pura in the Murar locality, has lodged a formal complaint at the Murar police station. In response, the police have initiated a case involving various legal sections and have commenced an investigation into the matter.
According to the victim’s statement, she endured physical abuse from her in-laws due to dowry demands, which also had a negative impact on her sports career.
The complaint led to the registration of a case. Vinayak Shukla, the City Superintendent of Police (CSP), informed ANI that Rani Rana, who serves as the brand ambassador for the “Beti Bachao and Beti Padhao” campaign, had filed a complaint against her husband, mother-in-law, and father-in-law. This complaint encompasses allegations of dowry extortion and physical harassment. The police have initiated the case and are pursuing an investigation against the accused individuals.
The victim’s husband, who is a gym director, reportedly coerced her into giving him money for starting a gym. When she failed to provide the funds, she was subjected to physical assault.
CSP Vinayak Shukla further mentioned that the case has been officially registered, and they will proceed with appropriate legal actions in due course.
It’s worth noting that Rani Rana’s wrestling journey began with significant challenges, and she not only brought honor to her family but also to Gwalior and the nation. Her accomplishments include numerous medals, including a Gold in the National Wrestling Tournament.
