In Singarpur village of Mandla, the health of 97 children deteriorated after consuming contaminated water at Haat Bazar. After this there was chaos in the district hospital. The police has taken the shopkeeper into custody.
Madhya Pradesh (Madhya Pradesh97 children fell ill after eating contaminated phulkis (pani-puri) at Haat Bazar in Singarpur gram panchayat of Mandla district. An official gave this information on Sunday. Civil Surgeon of Mandla District Hospital, Dr KR Shakya said that 97 children were admitted one after the other in the district hospital on Saturday night. All these children had eaten phulkis from a shop in Singarpur Haat market. He said that all the children are out of danger and under observation. Shakya told that Haat Bazaar (Haat BazaarDue to this, apart from Singarpur, children from 8 to 10 nearby villages had reached there with their parents and everyone had eaten phulkis from his shop as there was only one shop of pani-puri. Police while taking action in the matter (MP Police) has taken the shopkeeper into custody.
Singarpur is about 38 kilometers away from the district headquarter. He said that around 7:30 pm on Saturday evening, the children complained of stomach ache and started vomiting. At first some children were admitted to the local primary health centre, but when the number of sick children started increasing rapidly, the sick children were directly brought to the district hospital.

The police have taken into custody the shopkeeper selling pani-puri and samples of the food item have been sent for testing. After the incident came to light, Union Minister and Mandla MP Faggan Singh Kulaste met the children undergoing treatment on Saturday night.
