Firing on the gathered crowd
Tension flared up in B Gamanom area of Kangpokpi district of Manipur when militants opened fire on a crowd gathered at a place. In this attack on Tuesday morning, Kuki militants shot and killed 5 civilians including the head of MP Khullen village and a minor boy. IG Lunseh Kipgen said, 5 people have been killed. 3 bodies have been recovered, search is on.
According to sources, the villagers had reached the Mafau Dam area to attend the cremation of the militants killed by the security forces in the encounter. At the same time, the attackers opened fire there. After the attack, many villagers have fled from the village due to fear. State and central forces have launched a massive search operation to nab the attackers. CM N Biren Singh has condemned this attack.

CM’s stern warning
On the other hand, a day after six people were injured in political clashes in Manipur, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said on Tuesday that action would be taken against those involved in the violence. Assembly elections are to be held in Manipur in early 2022.
Calling upon everyone not to indulge in violence ahead of the elections, the Chief Minister said that soon licensed guns would be collected from the general public. Six people were injured in a clash between supporters of rival political parties in Yaripok Yambem village of Andro assembly constituency of Imphal East district.
