Maharashtra: Troubled by water scarcity, girls leaving their husband’s house and going home, NHRC said – this is a violation of fundamental rights

In many villages of Maharashtra, people are troubled by the scarcity of water. Dandichi Bari is also one of them. About 300 people live in this village. The girl’s people get scared after hearing the name of this village.

Now the National Human Rights Commission has taken cognizance of this matter. The Human Rights Commission has claimed that unable to cope with the water scarcity situation, newly wed brides are leaving their in-laws in the village.

Women have to walk one and a half kilometers every summer from March to June. Then it takes a lot of time to fill the pot to bring water from the almost dry stream to the bottom of the hill. The NHRC has said that the situation is that many families are hesitant to marry their daughters to the men of the village.

Every single drop has to be done daily

Due to severe water crisis in Dandichi Bari village, villagers have to struggle daily for every drop of water. The commission has said that there is a gross violation of the basic human rights of those people.

However, one has to wait for hours for water to fill the cavity of the rock.
