Police have arrested all eight accused in connection with the rape of a 20-year-old girl on board the Lucknow-Mumbai Pushpak Express train between Igatpuri and Kasara railway stations in Maharashtra. An official gave this information on Monday. This incident happened on Friday night. The accused boarded the train coming to Mumbai from Igatpuri station. The alleged crime took place when the train was passing through the Ghat section. The police had then arrested four people in this case. According to a police officer, all the eight accused have now been arrested in this case.
The accused have been identified as Prakash alias Pakya Damu Pardhi (20), Arshad Sheikh (19), Arjun alias Pavya Subhash Singh Pardeshi (20), Kishore Nandu Sonawane alias Kalia (25), Kashinath Ramchandra Telam Kashya (23), Akash Shenor alias Aakya (23). 20), Dhananjay Bhagat alias Guddu (19) and Rahul Adole alias Rahulya (22)
robbed passengers by showing a knife
According to a Government Railway Police (GRP) official, the accused had consumed ganja before boarding the train. He told that there was no plan to rob the train of the accused. But, after boarding the train, one of the accused tried to rob a passenger by showing a knife. The frightened traveler gave them the cash. The accused got encouraged and they tried to threaten other passengers also by showing knives. He felt that he would not be recognized in the dark.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (GRP) Manoj Patil said that all the accused related to this case have been arrested. Four of the accused have a criminal record while the rest have no previous case registered against them. During the investigation of the case, the police came to know that the accused had looted cash from 16 passengers and snatched mobile phones of nine.
The woman was recently married
The accused raped a 20-year-old woman, the officer said. The woman had recently got married and was going to live in Mumbai with her husband. When the woman’s husband tried to save the wife, the accused attacked her. The GRP has registered a case against the accused under sections 395 (dacoity), 376 (d) – gang rape of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
