Farmer Vishnu Kadam, living in Latur district of Maharashtra, planted 100 cashew saplings on his vacant 1.5 acres of barren land. So far they have received 2 tonnes of cashew nuts.

Due to the low rainfall in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra, this region is considered a region of drought. Especially the Latur district which falls in this region is very much affected by drought. But even in such a situation, farmer Vishnu Kadam, a resident of Kharak Umarga village of Nilanga tehsil of Latur district, took the drought as a challenge and cultivated 100 cashew plants on one and a half acres of barren land. Generally, the cultivation of cashew requires more water as well as the sea season (Dumt), but despite this, its proper use even in less water and proper care of cashew plants in the changing season. His hard work paid off. Vishnu has proved that cashew can be cultivated even in dry areas.
Earned more than Rs 80,000
Vishnu Kadam started this farming in 2016 by bringing cashew plants from Konkan region. Whose care has started bearing fruit after 4 years and till now in this year Kadam has earned 80 thousand rupees and he has extracted 2 tons of cashew.
