These new rules have come into force immediately and the Municipal Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal has ordered to follow these rules strictly. According to the orders of 21 December 2020 and 27 December 2020, for the passengers coming from abroad at the airport of Mumbai (1 week quarantine mandatory for international passengers in Mumbai), the fixed procedures have been implemented. According to this, it will be mandatory for travelers coming from UK, Europe, Middle East, South Africa and Brazil to stay in Institution Quarantine for 7 days.
Some hotels have been set for this in Mumbai. There has been a quarantine stay in those hotels. The last time these procedures were implemented, then some illegal methods of avoiding this quarantine system were used. Keeping them in mind, the Mumbai Municipal Corporation has issued SOP by making a slight improvement in those rules. With this, the entire arrangement has been made to check the passengers as soon as they land at the Mumbai airport and transport them to the place of Quartin and stay quarantined.
Revised rules for travelers coming to Mumbai from abroad
Airport officials and employees will have to keep complete information about the daily commuters and they will have to prepare a list of the offices of all the 24 departments of Mumbai so that hotels around each department’s office can be used.
Every day, the team posted at the airport will have to send the list of passengers belonging to each such department to the Assistant Commissioner or Executive Health Officer of the concerned Wag via e-mail.
Arrangement from Airport to Hotel
After getting the complete information of the passengers, they will have to reach the hotels fixed by the officers and staff appointed at the airport. Scheduled buses will be used to carry passengers. It will be necessary to give the list of passengers to the drivers of the respective best buses.
Passengers will be escorted to fixed hotels by the best bus drivers concerned. A receipt will be given by the hotel workers for information about the arrival of the passengers in the hotel. The bus driver will return and hand it over to the concerned officer of the airport. The airport authorities will look at the list of passengers and the information about the arrival of the passengers given in the receipt of the hotel, and will ensure that all the passengers have reached the fixed hotels.
How will the quarantine passengers be screened?
The Assistant Commissioners of the Mahapalika will have to keep constant information about the quarantined passengers in their respective departments whether they are in the quarantine or not? A team will be appointed to investigate them all. New rules related to visiting the Quarantine Center have been framed by the investigation team appointed by the Assistant Commissioner. This investigation team will have to follow these rules strictly and take care of whether the quarantine rules are being followed by the passengers in the quarantine center. In case of violation of the rules, there is an order to take qualified and strict action by the Assistant Commissioner. The concerned Assistant Commissioner will continue to take reports of the work of the team appointed for the investigation. The weekly report of the investigation conducted by the members of the investigation team in the quarantine centers is regularly prepared and its copy will be sent to the Additional Municipal Commissioner (Project) and the Deputy Commissioner of Surveillance.
