Apart from this, Kundan’s name was also included in this letter and he was also said to be involved in this recovery. Earlier, the ED also questioned Sachin Waje, a former Mumbai Police officer involved in the case.
An ED official said that the Enforcement Directorate has recorded the statement of sacked Assistant Police Inspector Sachin Waje in connection with a money laundering case registered against former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh. He said that a two-member ED team recorded Waze’s statement on Wednesday, June 23 at Taloja Central Jail in Navi Mumbai. Waje is in jail in judicial custody after an SUV car was found outside Mukesh Ambani’s residence Antilia and arrested in the Mansukh deer murder case. Explosives were found in the SUV which was found outside Mukesh Ambani’s residence. The official said the state prison department had given permission to the ED officials to record Waze’s statement in the jail. Two days after Waje was questioned, the ED on Friday searched the premises of Deshmukh and his associates in Nagpur and Mumbai, officials in Delhi said.
Raid on 5 locations of Anil Deshmukh
Earlier on Friday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) searched the premises of former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh. His political party, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), criticized the action, while the Bharatiya Janata Party said the investigation was being conducted as per the Bombay High Court order and dismissed allegations of any political motive behind the action. gave. Deshmukh, on the other hand, said that he cooperated fully with the ED officials who met him during searches of his premises as part of the money laundering probe against him. Deshmukh expressed hope that “the truth will come out”.
Officials said the ED conducted searches at the premises of Deshmukh’s Nagpur and his associates in Mumbai as part of a money-laundering probe on allegations of bribery worth Rs 100 crore against the former home minister. He said that the raids were conducted under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Searches were conducted at Deshmukh’s residence at GPO Chowk in Nagpur and Mumbai premises of his personal secretary Sanjeev Palande and personal assistant Kundan Shinde. Sources said that Palande was brought to the ED office in Mumbai in the afternoon for questioning.
I am fully cooperating in the investigation: Deshmukh
Speaking to reporters in Mumbai, Deshmukh said that he would continue to cooperate with the investigating agencies in future also. Deshmukh claimed that former Mumbai Police Commissioner Parambir Singh had leveled false allegations of corruption and misconduct against him after he was removed from the post in March. “Singh was removed from the post for his suspected role in parking the SUV outside Mukesh Ambani’s residence in which explosives were found,” he said. All the five police officers of the CIU (Crime Intelligence Unit) arrested in the case used to report directly to Parambir Singh. NIA is probing the matter. The NCP leader said, “When Singh was removed from the post, he had leveled false allegations against me. CBI is probing the matter and I will cooperate.
100 crore recovery case
Deshmukh had resigned from the state cabinet in April last after the Bombay High Court ordered a CBI probe into allegations of bribery transactions of Rs 100 crore leveled by Singh against the 71-year-old leader. The ED had last month registered a criminal case under PMLA against Deshmukh and others after going through the CBI’s FIR. Sources said that while the ED’s search was on, Deshmukh reached his flat at Sukhda Bhavan in Worli, central Mumbai. The NCP said nothing has come to light against Deshmukh so far and efforts are being made to harass Deshmukh out of desperation as nothing has been revealed in the investigation against him and his family.
NCP chief Sharad Pawar told reporters in Pune, “All these things are not new to us. Anil Deshmukh is not the first (to face such action). Those in power have shown a new trend of using power. Now there is no need to talk about that issue anymore. We are not worried about it at all. BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis said that the investigation against Deshmukh is being done under the order of the High Court and it is wrong to call the ED’s action against the former state home minister politically motivated. Officials said that the ED searched Deshmukh’s locations in Mumbai and Nagpur on Friday in connection with the money laundering case. The central agency had last month registered a criminal case against Deshmukh and others under the Anti-Money Laundering Act after going through the CBI’s FIR.
Fadnavis hit a simple target
Speaking to reporters at Nagpur airport, former Chief Minister of the state Devendra Fadnavis said, “All these investigations are being done on the directions of the High Court. There is no reason to seek political reasons in them. We believe that the agencies are acting on the directions of the High Court. On NCP MP Supriya Sule’s statement that the ED search was a state of emergency, Fadnavis said, “He has not experienced the period of 1975-77, which is characterized by censorship on the press and suspension of civil rights.” ‘
Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly, Fadnavis said, “Supriya Sule has not seen the Emergency as she was a child at that time…Even I was a child at that time. They have not experienced emergency….but we have experienced emergency. My father was in jail for 21 months without trial. There were millions of people like him. George Fernandez (socialist leader and former Union minister) was forced to sleep on ingots of ice. What do you know about emergency? It is wrong to link the investigation directed by the High Court with the emergency.
