Electricity prices may increase in Madhya Pradesh.

This time, a proposal has been sent to the Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regulator by the power companies to increase the electricity connection and other charges wildly. Although this proposal was sent earlier as well, but then the proposal was withdrawn after protest by the objectors. But once again the proposal was sent with the same increased rates.
Electricity companies have again proposed an increase of 68 percent to 70 percent in various types of service charges for new connections by all categories of consumers, on which objections have been invited from consumers by 30 September 2021. Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission will hear on October 5. Let us tell you that even before this a proposal was sent with the same rates, on which representatives of about 20 consumers and industry organizations protested in the public hearing held on 6 July 2021. In view of the protest, the proposal for fee hike was postponed. But now the proposal has been sent again with the same increased rates.

Electricity connection proposed fee
According to the proposed rates of electricity connection, earlier Rs 600 was charged for single phase 3 kW connection, which is now proposed to be Rs 1020. Earlier it used to cost Rs 1800 for three phase 5 kW which is now proposed to be 3000. This is an increase of about 67 per cent. For three phase 10 kW connection, it used to cost 4800 for which Rs 8000 is now proposed.
On the other hand, if we talk about commercial connection, then it used to cost Rs 900 for single phase 3 kW, which is proposed at Rs 1500. For a three phase 5 kW connection, it was Rs 2700, which is now proposed at Rs 4530. Earlier, the cost of three phase 10 kW connection was Rs 7200, which is now proposed to be 12,080. Earlier it was 40,950 for three phase 25 kW connection which is now proposed to be Rs 68,970. For a three phase 50 kW connection, it used to cost Rs 134,700, which is now proposed to be 226,500.
