The government has taken an important decision regarding liquor contracts in Madhya Pradesh. In the Shivraj cabinet held on Friday, in the financial year 2020-21, the license fee of the existing liquor contracts in the state has been increased by 10 percent. The increased license fee will be applicable from 1 June 2021 to 31 March 2022. On the other hand, if a contract operator does not re-license, then the contract will be auctioned again and the tender will be taken out.
Now alcohol will be available at a lower cost
Drinkers are no longer required to spend much money for alcohol. Alcohol will be available in the state even at low cost. The government has now decided to sell alcohol in 90 ml packing, while changing the excise policy. Earlier, alcohol used to come in 180 ml packing only.
Minister Vishwas Sarang, who was doing the media briefing, told that the government had increased the prices of alcohol for the general public not to drink alcohol, but it was seen that people started spoiling their health by drinking chemicals instead of alcohol. Given this, the government has decided to sell liquor in 90 ml packing.
Decision on PM Housing Scheme
In this cabinet, the government has also taken a big decision regarding PM Awas Yojana. Now, for the houses to be built under PM Awas Yojana, the revenue department will provide the land of Nazul not on lease but on the basis of landowner right. Also, the land that was given earlier will also be changed according to the landowner right. No premium will have to be paid for this. Pattos given in Chinera will also be given according to the right of the landowner. This decision of the government will benefit 2392 people.
Alcohol consumption increased in the state
No matter how expensive the liquor is in Madhya Pradesh, there is no shortage of drinkers here. That is why the consumption of alcohol in the state is increasing every year. If you look at the figures, about 32.2 million liters of alcohol has been consumed in the state during the 2019-20 financial year and these consumption is increasing at an average rate of 21 percent annually.
