Lucknow administration’s big step on the complaint of charging more money for dengue test, fixed the price of the test, know the rate

The Lucknow administration fixed the prices of tests related to dengue.

Along with this, the testing lab has been warned that legal action will be taken under the Epidemic Diseases Act for charging more money. The administration on Monday released a list of prices attached to the dengue test, which said that if a person’s NS1 ELISA test is done at the lab, then not more than ₹ 1,200 should be charged from him. On the other hand, if his test is done at home, then not more than ₹ 1,400 can be taken.

The district administration has taken this step after several complaints related to overcharging by the labs. Addressing the meeting with the lab owners, District Magistrate Abhishek Prakash said, “We are fighting dengue, just like we fought against Covid during the first and second wave. High price will not be tolerated in dengue test. Since a long time we have received many complaints of over pricing so it should be ensured that no lab charges more than the prescribed amount”.

what is the new rate

If the IGM ELISA test is done in a lab, then a maximum fee of ₹ 750 will be charged and ₹ 800 will be charged if this test is done at the patient’s home. The fee for IGA ELISA test in the laboratory cannot be more than ₹ 750 and for sample taking at home, no more than ₹ 800 can be charged. The cost of IGM card test will be ₹ 600. If the platelet count test is done in the lab, then ₹ 250 will be taken, while if this test is done at home then not more than ₹ 350 can be taken. It has also been said in the price list released by the administration that the price of 1 unit of platelet RDP will not exceed ₹ 400.

Strict action instructions given by DM

The DM said that no hospital or lab should charge more than the prescribed amount. “If anyone is found to be charging more than the prescribed price, we will initiate strict action against the guilty body,” he said.

To keep an eye on the increasing cases of dengue, the administration has divided the city into 24 sector teams. He also directed the health department to ensure that there is no panic situation and the cost of testing does not increase.
