In all the seven assembly seats of Deoria district, where the BJP has given a crushing defeat to the SP, the impregnable fort of Bhatparrani, which was once a stronghold of socialists, also collapsed this time. Even in the strong Modi wave of 2017, the BJP could not win this fort of SP and the Samajwadi Party was left in the Bhatparrani seat in the entire Gorakhpur division.

From 1952 to 2017 assembly elections, this seat was first held by Congress, then Socialist and later by SP. Sabha Kunwar has a history of struggles
The struggle of Kunwar Kushwaha, who fed the lotus in Bhatparani assembly seat, has a long history. So far, Sabha Kunwar has lost once contesting the Lok Sabha and 6 times in the assembly elections. Sabha Kunwar had contested the first election as an independent from Bhatparrani assembly constituency in the year 1996. After this, contested from Samta Party in 2002, BSP in 2007 and 2012 and Independent in 2013, but lost. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Deoria contested the Lok Sabha elections on a Congress ticket. In the year 2017, again contested the assembly elections from BSP, but even after working hard, Sabha Kunwar lost. Even after losing all the elections, the morale of Sabha Kunwar was not broken and he joined BJP. In this election, both BJP and Sabha Kunwar proved to be complementary to each other.
