Lok Sabha Speaker congratulates Praveen, Avni for winning medals in Paralympics, India won so many medals till now

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Friday congratulated Praveen Kumar for winning a silver medal in the men’s high jump event at the Tokyo Paralympics and Avni Lekhara for winning a bronze medal in shooting 50m rifle three position SH1. Let us tell you that India has won 12 medals in Paralympic Olympics, which is our best performance till date. These 12 medals include 2 Gold, 6 Silver and 4 Bronze medals. On winning the medals of Praveen and Avira, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sports Minister Anurag Thakur and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Kumar Birla have congratulated them on social media.

In his message, the Speaker of the Lok Sabha said, Praveen Kumar won a silver medal in the men’s high jump event at the Tokyo Paralympic Games. Avani Lekhara won bronze medal in shooting. Congratulations to Praveen and Avni. He said that Praveen has made an Asian record along with winning a medal. His double achievement is a symbol of the strength and commitment of the Indian youth.

Referring to the success of Avani Lekhara, the Speaker said that Rajasthan’s daughter Avani has created history by winning a bronze medal. Birla said that this is a proud achievement in Paralympic Games. This success is a testament to his sincere dedication and amazing ability. Let us inform that Praveen Kumar won the silver medal in the men’s high jump T64 event with an Asian record at the Tokyo Paralympics. She made her Paralympic debut with a jump of 2.07m to finish second with an Asian record. At the same time, shooter Avani Lekhara on Friday won a bronze medal in the 50m Rifle Three Position SH1 event of the Tokyo Games. With this achievement, she became the first Indian woman player to win two Paralympic medals.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also congratulated Praveen Kumar. He tweeted- Proud of Praveen Kumar for winning a silver medal in Paralympics. This medal is the result of his hard work and dedication.
