Lakhimpur Kheri violence.
‘Final Ardas’ will be performed on Tuesday for the four farmers killed in the violence on October 3 at Tikonia in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri district. An official of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) said that no leader would be allowed to share the stage in the ‘Antilim Ardas’ where only the leaders of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha would be present. An ‘Antim Ardas’ is being organized near the place where the violence took place.
Bharatiya Kisan Union district president Amandeep Singh Sandhu and district vice-president Balkar Singh said on Monday, “The ‘last ardas’ will be done for the dead farmers on Tuesday (October 12) in Tikoniya.
Only SKM leaders will be present
“Farmers and leaders from different states and districts will participate in ‘Ardas’ and ‘Bhog’ programs at Tikoniya,” Sandhu said. On the participation of various leaders in the Ardas, Balkar Singh said, “No political leader will be allowed to share the stage where only the leaders of the United Kisan Morcha will be present.”
The United Kisan Morcha (SKM), which is spearheading the movement against the Centre’s three new controversial agriculture laws, alleged that the violence was a pre-planned conspiracy. He had also demanded the arrest of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra and his son Ashish Mishra for this.
Warning to take out Martyr Kisan Yatra
Ashish Mishra was arrested late Saturday night after 12 hours of interrogation. Farmers unions have said that if the government does not accept their demands by October 11, they will take out a ‘Shaheed Kisan Yatra’ from Lakhimpur Kheri with the ashes of the killed farmers. SKM called for ‘Rail Roko’ agitation across the country from 10 am to 4 pm on October 18 and ‘Mahapanchayat’ in Lucknow on October 26.
